John Pounds Community Trust

The John Pounds Centre is an exciting and visionary community building located in the Portsea area of the City of Portsmouth, close to the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf quays. Opened three years ago this visionary social enterprise run by a staff team and managed by a board of trustees, provides a wide range of activities for adults and young people. The activities take an holistic approach to the well being of people and promote the ethos of a healthy and happy life for all. To this end we provide a range of learning and training for adults and young people, an exciting programme of events and conferences. We also have a gym, sports halls, a successful healthty eating café, a creche, youth centre and are host to a library, a local authority housing office and a medical centre.  The centre is self-financing and successfully finances all its activities from earnt income and a range of grants.

Trustees
A number of new Trustees are now being sought to expand our existing board. Although we will welcome people with a  wide range of skills we also require specific experience in the areas of financial decision making, property management, human resources, marketing, fundraising and public relations. We are also seeking to recruit someone who would be willing to consider becoming Chairman in due course.
Applicants are likely to have a general understanding of the principles which govern UK charities but we would also be happy to offer a training programme for those applicants with limited experience.
